TAKASHI PAOLO NAGAI, a talk with Gabriele Di Comite

Announcement From Nagasaki

The John Henry Newman Cultural Centre is pleased to invite you to a talk by Dr Gabriele Di Comite about the story of Takashi Paolo Nagai at 3pm (London time) on 4th July 2020.

Known by many as “the Saint of Urakami”, Takashi Nagai’s journey brought him from the millenary Shinto tradition he was raised into, through the earthquake of modern materialism and positivism, and culminated with the unexpected conversion to Catholicism and the aftermath of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.

Dr Di Comite, who has been fascinated with the Japanese culture since his teenage years, currently lives in Tokyo and, after reading about Takashi Nagai and meeting his descendants, has curated with other friends an exhibition on his story.
